Troop 715
Welcome to Troop 715
Welcome to BSA Troop 715.  The Troop is chartered by Messiah Lutheran Church (MLC), which is located in Mauldin S.C.  Our Troop meets every Tuesday night, at MLC, from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM.  We meet in the Family Activity Center, (commonly referred to as the building with the gym).  Troop 715's adult leaders are volunteers and are here to make sure the Scouts have an organized program and a good time while attending the Troop activities.  Our Troop Leaders are available for any question you may have.

We, the adult leaders of Troop 715, have as our primary concern your son's safety, while at the same time their enjoyment and an environment for him to learn and advance through the Scouting trail.  The distance that your son goes within the Scouting program is up to him.  We will not push, nor ignore, the needs of any Scout.  But, we also must insure that everyone has a fair chance and that no one's needs go unassisted.

The information on this page, and additional expectations explain the guidelines that will apply to your son, and to you, while participating with this Troop and in its activities.  They were generated to give everyone a fair chance, and at the same time a safe environment.  We cannot, and will not, ask any Scout to go beyond his means.  But that requires a family member from each family to stay in touch with the Troop leadership, and to be aware of the Troop's activities.  Parents and guardians are always invited to attend or visit our meetings and activities.

It is encouraged and desired by the Troop staff that you do attend and visit our activities so you may be aware of the direction that the Troop is going.  All feedback is desired and appreciated.  There is no way that the leaders can know, or tell, if the needs of your son are being meet, unless there is a dialog between each family and the leadership of this Troop.  Therefore, we do ask that each family have at least one parent or guardian join our Troop Committee to represent your son's needs, and monitor the needs of other Scouts, as this program continually grows and matures.  We look forward to your son's attendance and thank you for your time and confidence in having your son be a part of Troop 715.

We also strongly encourage your son to attend Boy Scout Summer Camp with our Troop.  We take all Scouts, even those that may have just crossed over from Cub Scouts in May.  The Boy Scout summer camp allows the new Scout to complete requirements that will enable him to advance more rapidly than if he foregoes the new experience.

Attending Summer Camp allows the new Scout to complete his first rank by September.  If he finishes the 30-day exercise requirement before September and his next rank advancement by May of the following year, this normally results in a major accomplishment in rank advancement and self-confidence building.  Otherwise, it normally takes 4 to 5 months to complete the first rank and 4 to 6 months for each rank thereafter.
