A Trunk or Footlocker provides convenient and secure transport and storage of all the gear a Scout needs for Camp, except perhaps a camp chair.
Footlockers can be purchased at many local retail outlets, including Walmart*, KMart*, Target* and Michaels*, Dicks* and Sports Authority*. These are made of fiberboard with reinforced hinges and corners.
A more robust container is available from Home Depot* or Lowes*, sometimes called an Action-Packer*, or construction Job Box*; made of high-impact plastic.
A large storage box, like a big Tupperware* container could also be used, but is generally not lockable.
For those Scouts who would like to design and build their own storage chest, plans for two typical sizes and an interactive spreadsheet to develop your own size is provided below.

Note: The 17" tall trunk does not fit under the Adirondak bunks at COI, but can be stored against the back wall between the bunks. The Museum Adirondacks have 16" clear under the bunk rails.
